Motherhood - A Heroism Least Remembered

Motherhood... the greatest calling in a woman's life, yet the least appreciated, respected, or regarded. Three airline jet loads of pregnant women crashing every day is a representation of how many women are dying in pregnancy and childbirth in underdeveloped countries. In the West where you have a 1 in 4,000 chance of dying in childbirth, women in parts of Africa and Asia have a 1 in 31 to a 1 in 8 chance of dying in childbirth. Girls are more likely to die in childbirth in some areas of the world than they are to go to school. The great majority of all these deaths COULD be prevented with appropriate care.
